This page is dedicated to celebrating effective instruction
that is happening in Sanger Unified!
During the months of October & November, Jamie Nino and the DIS Team went to nearly all the school sites and saw some amazing things. Click on any picture below to enlarge.
Here are some of the highlights:
- Engagement -- great balance of passive and active engagement, choices and goals were prevalent
- Writing -- pushing students to write in all content areas
- Math -- evidence of number talks, representing concepts with manipulatives and pictures moving from concrete to abstract
-- Implementation of new strategies -- we saw students engaged in mentor texts, PVLEGS, and student goal setting.
Some considerations:
- Closure -- As hard as it is to find time, our students will really benefit from reflecting on their learning during closure.
- Learning Goals -- make them work for you and your students. Yes, it's important that they are displayed, but it's more important that they are referenced and really used to drive the learning.
