Frequently Asked Questions
- Will my TK-8th Grade child have an opportunity to continue with the Virtual Learning with daily, live instruction with a teacher?
- Yes! One of the options for TK-8th grade students will include virtual learning with a Sanger Unified credentialed teacher. Students will be expected to meet daily (via Google Meet/Zoom) with their classroom teacher for live instruction. While the schedule is being determined, you can expect for your student(s) to have daily whole class time (in the morning) and small group instruction (in the afternoon.)
- Will my TK-8th Grade child have an opportunity to continue with Independent Study using Edgenuity?
- Yes! One of the options for TK-6th grade students will include using Edgenuity in an Independent Study (self paced, on your own time) setting. This will involve check-ins with a Sanger Unified credentialed teacher.
- What options will be available for 9th - 12th Grade students?
- Currently, the district is making decisions based on interest and enrollment numbers.
- Will my student be able to remain at their Home School?
- No, all students opting to participate will transfer to Taft Academy where they will receive a cohesive educational experience. Teachers from around the district will also be transitioning to Taft to focus on the needs of students enrolled.
- What if we would like to transfer back to our home school in the 2022 - 2023 school year?
- When opting to enroll in Taft Academy as a "school of choice" you are choosing to give up your "spot" at your home school of residence. Yes, if space allows, student(s) would be able to transfer back to the home school of residence. However, if, for example, the grade level you are attempting to enroll in is impacted, you have priority over intra-district transfer students, but would be moved to the end of the "list" based on a new enrollment date. In that case, student(s) might be at risk for being bussed to another school school site.
- How will Taft develop a sense of community for staff, students, and families?
- Staff, students, and families will get to be a part of developing a school culture that is welcoming and inclusive. Similar activities - family dances, rallies, awards, groups/clubs - will be offered, with the understanding that this is a virtual/online setting, so in-person events and activities will be very limited. Students engaged in daily virtual instruction will have several opportunities to build relationships with their classmates, teachers, and the school. Virtual recesses and times to develop friendships even at a distance will be an expectation.
