Welcome back everyone! We are so excited for the start of the year. New school supplies are organized and ready, desks are clean, backpacks are full, and a new chapter for our UDL journey is beginning. Sanger Unified is moving to site based plans for Universal Design for Learning. Each and every school site in our district is at a place where they are taking the first steps toward full implementation of Universal Design for Learning.

Your site either has already been trained in their UDL rollout or will be trained in the coming weeks. Sanger Unified is being extremely intentional about using Universal Design for Learning to teach and implement Universal Design for Learning. Sites have chosen their own unique plan for how to empower teams to make consistent incremental changes to classroom instructional practices. Lean into those plans and trainings, experiment and apply UDL into places that actually matter to your team.

Resources Available to You Along the Way:
  • UDL Pilot PLCs - At almost every site there is a cohort of teachers that participated in our UDL pilot team. Those are "open door" PLCs, meaning that they are open for teams to pop in and ask questions and get support in UDL implementation. For sites that do not have a pilot team we have a whole lists of teams outside your site who'd love to partner with you!
  • Site UDL Leads - At every site there is at least 1 UDL point person. This person can be another support to you in your UDL journey and provide insight into ways to better implement the UDL guidelines.
  • DIS on Call - Every site is assigned a point person from the district office who can come plan with PLCs, do sample lessons, and lead professional development based on your site's UDL rollout plan. You'll know your DIS by who is supporting your site in the beginning of the year site based PD or by contacting your principal.

We are so excited for this year! Thank you in advance for the ways your innovation and creativity is going to inspire students to love learning. We can't wait to see the next chapter of our UDL story!

Let us know how your doing!

This article beautifully captures the ongoing journey of learning and growth, particularly through the lens of Universal Design for Learning (UDL). The emphasis on adaptability and inclusivity in education is inspiring, as it highlights the importance of meeting the diverse needs of all learners. It’s exciting to see the continued commitment to creating engaging, accessible learning experiences that support every student’s unique strengths and challenges. The mention of new tools and strategies encourages a sense of excitement and possibility for educators and students alike. It would be great to see more examples of how these concepts are being implemented in classrooms for even deeper insight!
